My skin has been playing with me the last few months. I don’t know whether it’s stress, the cold and all the other aspects that come with winter (such as central heating) or just the general state of the world catching up with me but I get about one good skin day a week at the moment.
I would never class myself as someone who suffers from acne, so many other people have it a lot worse than I do. I’m positive that I share the same feelings that anyone who suffers from their skin feels. It can really knock your confidence and body confidence, makes you feel insecure and can affect the happiness that you feel about yourself.
No one should feel this way about their skin.
Lately, I’ve been paying more attention to my health. I think after 2020, it’s a big thing on peoples minds – I’ve been trying to take really good care of myself, which expends not only to my body but my haircare and skincare too.
I’ve very lucky to be sent a lot of fabulous products (which is a curse in a way too, as I’m always trying something new on my skin!). There is nothing wrong with a simple routine, just cleansing your skin and keeping it moisturised can be really beneficial. I have been diving more into serums and treatments and there are some brands that tend to get it right every time.
I love almost everything Nivea release – they are one of those brands that just tend to get it right every time. I’ve never reacted to their products and they’ve very inexpensive too. I find their products great for that every day cleanse and they seem to have something for all skin types.
I love their Moisturisers and I’ve also fallen in love with their Micellar Water. I definitely use at least one Nivea product every morning when I’m getting ready – and in the summer, their suncream is my go-to.
I know a lot of people have properly heard of Nivea before, but I just don’t think they should be overlooked as a skincare brand.
Typology is a new brand to me that I only discovered last year after they sent me some things over. They’re a French brand that really has researched into the skincare that they’re producing. Everything is vegan and very “sensitive” skin based. They seem like a very inclusive brand. Their serums are some of the best around and they’ve even branched into body care and also tinted serums.
I am nearly out of some of the facial serums that I’ve been using from them which is very disappointing, I will have to pop an order through. I love their Hyaluronic Acid Serum (super gentle but hydrating) and would also love to try their Vitamin C Serum.
Probably not a brand that many will have heard of but they’re very fairly priced and have such high-quality products.
Everything should know how much love I have for Dermalogica! They’re one of my favourite skincare brands around, with innovative, great customer lead products and also fantastic packaging, they’re a brand that everyone should know about.
They are a bit more on the pricey side, however, they have some of the best ingredients around and something for everyone, whether you have sensitive skin or not. They have been launching a lot of new products lately, They offer free delivery too and are always popping little samples into your orders!
This is another new brand to me but actually, Elemental Herbology are fast becoming one of my favourites. They are definitely a more “luxe” brand, however, their products are always so lovely, hydrating and good for your skin that the extra price tag is worth it.
They not only provide skincare products but they’ve actually got a lot of body care products on offer too. They do some fab balms which I use all the time and two of my favourite products are their Hydrating Facial Soufflé Ultra-Rich Cream (pop this on lightly for a rich moisturiser or apply heavier for a super hydrating overnight mask) and also their Sooth Bath and Body Oil which smells gorgeous and always leaves me feeling very “zen”.
For full disclosure, I have had to stop using one of the Elemental Herbology products (and also a Dermalogica one) as something was causing redness and sore skin around my eye area. It was an eye cream, the only two that I own which is unfortunate however, I don’t want to have to use the products again to try and figure out which one it was. I have passed them on within my family for someone else to get the full benefit of!
There are obviously so many amazing skincare brands out there, many of which I probably haven’t even tried. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts on brands which I think are worth the hype and a few of their stand out products,
Just a note; this is, of course, all my personal preference and something that I personally love, might not be suitable for you/your skin type. It’s always worth trialling products but please be careful as it’s your skin at the end of the day.
If there are any fab brands that I’ve not tried yet, please let me know! I’m always on the hunt for new skincare.
