The Cleanser That Saved My Skin

A little while ago, my skin was the worst it had ever been since I was around 14 years old. I’ve never wanted to say that I had “acne” as I feel that that word should be saved for people who really have it bad, and although mine was getting to that stage, I never wanted to call it that. I’ve never been one of those people that have ridiculously clear skin. It’s okay in most cases, daily it can be nice, it can be soft and look quite healthy but I have troublesome areas which can flare up and the texture can be a bit bumpy sometimes. For a good while, I had what appeared to be a rash across my cheek which just would never go away no matter what I tried. I also have various blemishes which like to appear on my chin whenever they want. This doesn’t seem to be because of hormones, but I do cup my face a lot when at computers so it’s probably my own fault.

I never used to have a very good skincare routine, as much as I like to call myself a beauty blogger! I always felt so lost when it came to skincare, I never knew where to start or what to do. I would wash my face every morning before applying make up and I would always make sure my skin was moisturised as it can be quite dry otherwise. I would also always remove my make up at night and again cleanse my face and moisturise. I think my trouble was that I was using the wrong type of cleanser for my skin. For years I’ve always felt that I needed something exfoliating otherwise I wasn’t really cleaning my skin, which isn’t the case at all. I think I was using products which were too harsh, so my blemishes would never go away.

It was because of this that I was on the hunt for a new cleanser. I was just browsing when I spotted this Nivea product. It’s new, and I was drawn to it because of the simple packaging and the fact that it cleanses thoroughly yet gently. This is exactly what I was looking for, something different to what I usually use but that would do a good job of keeping my skin clean and blemish free. I’ve never used anything by Nivea before so I was a little anxious (I didn’t want to make my skin worse!).

I’ve been using this product for well over a month now and I love it so much. It is the perfect daily cleanser which isn’t harsh on the skin. It doesn’t dry out my skin and leaves it feeling soft and looking healthy. I tend to use this in the morning as I think it’s a good easy cleanser to prep my skin for make up. I’ll also tend to use this in the evening as well – after I remove my make up. I’ll often do a double cleanse with this product. I don’t think that you necessarily have to, however it is something which I normally tend to do with whatever cleanser I’m using as I wear quite a lot of make up. I feel like this has done an amazing job of clearing up my skin and I can’t fault it at all. It’s really taught me that you don’t have to have harsh, exfoliating products to get your skin clean and has made me rethink my entire skincare routine. I truly believe that you need a good skincare routine as this is the basis for everything – you can’t expect your make up to look good if your skin doesn’t! I feel so bad for neglecting my skin for so many years.

Have you used anything from Nivea’s skincare range before? Will you be giving this a go? Let me know what you think!
