May Goals

The temptation to start this post like all my others by going on about how I can’t believe that it’s May already is strong. However I think it’s something that I just need to accept now, the year goes quick, it’ll soon be December before we know it!

As some of you might know, I basically had the whole of April off from posting on my blog. Apart from the odd two posts (one of them explaining what was going on), I didn’t post at all. However what I did do, was use this time to try and get ahead with blog posts and find my inspiration and motivation again. I think it’s tough as I was basically putting a lot of pressure on myself, both on here and on instagram and thats not good. I need to remember that I started this blog for me and it’s basically my hobby. Having a break is sometimes the only thing you can do to help a situation and I know it was the best thing for me. I’m coming back refreshed and so excited to post again.

01. I need to have a massive clear out of the flat, and while I’m at it, I need to finish painting it. We have basically finished the hallway which is looking so much brighter and fresher, it just needs some touch ups but it’s really made us want to get our act together and finish the other rooms it’s just finding the time, turning the flat upside down while we’re both at work all week won’t be fun. And while we’re both minimal people, we just seem to have so much “stuff”. I want to have a sort out of my make up, kitchen and wardrobe mainly and hopefully keep on top of it.

02. I’ve been thinking about my possessions recently too, I think one of the main reasons why I lost a lot of my motivation for my blog was the fact that I seem to just take the same photos over and over again of the same spaces of my home. I’ve been really paying attention to this and I’ve been trying to dig out other trinkets that get forgotten about, using other items which I own in photos and I’ve bought some new props (such as books and flowers) to include in my photos in the future. I also want to update some of my prints and these are such an easy way to update a space.

03. After having my first ever facial recently (more on that soon!) I’ve realised that as much as I love make up, having a good base and skincare routine is more important. I’ve always had a skincare routine, I make sure I take my make up off, cleanse every morning and night and do masks and scrubs but I feel like I really need to up my skincare game and perhaps put more thought into the products that I’m using. I normally find the world of skincare confusing so any advice or tips are welcome!

04. Something else that is important for me this month is to get into more of a routine. Recently I’ve been feeling like so many people get so much done in a day and I’m left thinking about everything I haven’t achieved. Don’t get me wrong, some days I’m so productive but others I’m not and I think there needs to be more of a balance. I think perhaps writing more to do lists, setting certain tasks for certain days, multitasking and making better use of my downtime are all things that could help me.

This is generally one of my favourite months of the year, the weather is nice (not to hot), everyones happy to see the sun and it just seems to be a time when people want to be productive. I’ve got some time off work this month, a long weekend here and there and also some time off planned to hopefully achieve some of my goals. It’s also my dad’s birthday this month so I’m looking forward to spending some time with my whole family. I think this is going to be one of the best months of the year yet and I’m feeling positive and happy.
