The wonderful team over at Dermalogica sent me over their new release this week: their Melting Moisture Masque. This mask improves your skin health and is an extreme boost of moisture for dry skin, something that my skin can definitely be! This moisturising masque transforms from a balm to a hydrating oil to restore your skin.
The key benefits of this masque are that it nourishes dry, dull skin and transforms it back to its healthy appearance again. It also helps your skin restore its Lipid Barrier (also known as the skin barrier, the outermost layer of the epidermis and consists of corneocytes (layers of dead skin cells) and lipids (the skin’s natural fats). Having a good, protected skin barrier is crucial for your skin to function properly) and protects against damaging environmental factors too.
This is a classic balm style consistency which I like, it feels very thick but it’s also not heavy and turns into an oil when massaged into your skin. I find that this sinks in well (which says something for how dry my skin is!) but I also make sure to only use a small amount as instructed. Always avoid your eye area with this masque. You can also towel off the excess if necessary but I don’t, as I don’t find that there is any!
The main ingredients in this masque are;
- Plankton Extract: A micro-algae extract with skin conditioning properties that help strengthen the skin’s lipid barrier and protect from pollution. They also help soothe, comfort and moisturise skin.
- Linoleic Acid (also known as Omega 6): An essential fatty acid.
- Mango Seed Butter: This ingredient is rich in minerals and Vitamin A, E and C and also presents skin conditioning Properties.
- Vitamin E: A powerful antioxidant that helps to neutralise free radicals and helps to repair skin damage.
The main thing that Dermalogica have stressed about this product is that it has very high-quality ingredients and it’s actually designed to be sensitive to temperature. Vitamin C products are the most sensitive when being stored so I’m actually used to storing and dispensing products like this but the main thing to do is to store this product at room temperature. It’s also important not to ‘pump’ to dispense the product but to press once firmly. This product is activated by your skins natural heat and you can actually warm it in between your fingers before use too.
I find that this masque is very good for applying at night or when you’re having a make up free day to fully benefit from it. You’re only meant to use this skincare treatment once or twice a week so I like to make these times count by not disrupting the product. I find a moisturising product is really good to use at night as this is when your skin naturally repairs itself. It’s also not going to come into contact with anything (such as other products or you touching your face), just be careful to sleep on your back until the product has sunk in.
As always, this product is formulated without Artificial Fragrances or Colours and is also Cruelty-Free, Gluten-Free and Vegan.
My first impressions of this Moisture Masque are very positive. It’s a buttery consistency that doesn’t feel heavy, it’s very nourishing and sinks in well to my skin. I always find that my skin feels very hydrated after use. I’m looking forward to seeing more benefits from this product as I continue to use it.
