Why Being Inspired By Others Is A Good Thing.

There are so many bloggers and Instagrammers out there that I constantly go to to help inspire me. I don’t think there’s any harm in being inspired by others as long as that’s exactly it… as long as you’re not taking it too far and copying people. That’s where the trouble starts.

Photography and blogging can be a very personal thing. It’s incredibly important to find your own style as that’s what is going to make you stand out. It also means it’ll be more likely to get people to follow you.

I’m definitely still finding my direction and style. I used to be all about those bright, white shots but now I’m embracing the slightly more realistic images (and turning the brightness right down when I’m editing!).

I don’t believe this change would have happened if I hadn’t started being inspired by different people. For instance, at the moment, I am obsessed with Allie’s Instagram. I love how her photos are instantly recognisable and I like how she’s introducing more home-style shots onto her feed. Does this mean my photos look like hers? Nope!

There’s a whole host of ways to find inspiration, one of my favourite ways to shoot is to have my laptop near me with Pinterest open. I have various boards for inspiration that help me with ideas and more specific shots, like how to style them or what angles to shoot. If shooting is proving difficult, I also find having a little scroll through Instagram works too. I always use the save feature on there, I find it the perfect way to get inspiration for shots. I have a whole collection on there just dedicated to helping me pose in photos!

If you’ve been directly inspired by someone, I always think it’s quite nice to tell them or credit them. I’ve done this before and really, what nicer compliment is there than to hear you’ve inspired someone?

I’d love to hear other peoples opinions on this. Do you find yourself inspired by others?
