Just before I get into the post, I just wanted to give a little warning out to anyone that might find these type of posts hard. As you can guess from the title, this post focuses on the women in my life and is inspired by Mother’s Day. I won’t have any hard feelings if you click away now and just know that I have the deepest respect for you.
Some of you might know by now that I’m part of the wonderful Nivea Family, they very kindly gifted me some products for Mother’s Day which is coming up (this Sunday!). I am very very lucky to have some strong, influential women in my life. Of course, there are others that I could have included in this post but I think I would ramble on for hours. All these women have constantly supported me and have helped shape me into the person that I am today. I wanted to use this post to celebrate them and let you in on how we’ll be spenting this weekend.
I wanted to chat about my mum first as obviously, she’s been there throughout my whole life. She’s beautiful and strong, and has had her own struggles but supports us and offers us advice no matter what we’re going through. I have two siblings and she has always been fair to us and offered us the same opportunities and support. I’m going to try not to talk about myself or my diagnosis throughout this post as it’s not about me, it’s about the wonderful women in my life. However, I have never felt closer to my mum since my diagnosis and I am so so grateful for her and everything she has done for me. I don’t think words could truly express how I feel about my mum.
I’ve booked an afternoon tea for all of us to enjoy this Mother’s Day. It’ll be the first time my whole family has gotten together for a while and I think spending quality time with all of us together will be a really lovely thing to do. I don’t think any present I get her could be enough, I mean I’d love to properly spoil her but I think spending time with all of her children together would be something she’d really
When we were younger, my sister and I were literally joined at the hip, as you get older that can naturally disappear however we have stayed so close. She’s someone I feel so comfortable around and that I can tell anything to without being judged. We’ve shared the same opinions and experiences and I’m so glad to have someone around who just gets it. She’s obviously been through a lot with me, and she’s held herself so well. I think she’s a wonderful and confident woman and I cannot wait to see her become a mother herself one day.
I think it really is a testament to my mum (and my dad) how all her children have turned out (a sneaky compliment to myself there).
I know some people aren’t close with their grandparents and I get that, I really didn’t feel that close to mine either. However, I’m so grateful they were around for my childhood and it was only around when I was 14/15 that I felt closer to them. Since my grandad died, I have never been closer to my nan and I’m so thankful that I live near her. We share a love of reading and she’s made me appreciate the little things. I really admire her for how she handles situations and losing my grandad, her husband of 49 years must have nearly broken her but she was so strong during that time and even now.
I will be seeing my Nan on Mother’s Day as I couldn’t imagine not spending time with her. I’ll be going along with my dad, some of my family and we’ll also be taking one of our dogs along to see her and to spend the afternoon together.
I think one of the best gifts you can give someone is some time to themselves, having a bath or a quiet afternoon doing what they want to do. Anything pampering might be overlooked but really, it’s giving them time to spend taking care of themselves. Nivea is one brand that I’d always go to when I’m shopping for others (and myself) as it’s the most inclusive brand that caters for everyone and even with people with the most sensitive skin, their products suit it.
I’ll be taking everyone a little Nivea Product, along with some flowers and perhaps some sweet treats (any excuse to bake!). I chose each Nivea product myself with someone in mind.
As soon as I saw this on their website, I instantly thought of my nan. She’s in her 80’s, she obviously doesn’t really care about
Someone that gets an honourable mention on this post is my Boyfriend’s mum. I’ve known her for about two years now and she’s always been so so kind to me. She’s one of the most compassionate people I know and she always has time for everyone. We like to have a bit of a chat about make up every so often and she said she couldn’t find a good Micellar Water to remove her make up with, I’ve always been a fan of their Micellar Waters so I know this is a fab product. I love thoughtful but practical gifts so I really think she’d appreciate this.
Last but not least, I wanted to give my mum something to make her days a tiny bit more luxe and exciting. She’s always so busy and doesn’t spend as much time pampering herself as I’m sure she’d like. I thought I could get her something that makes something totally ordinary, a little bit more special. I love the sound of this product and the scent sounds heavenly. The “Instant Absorption” aspect to this made me choose it, now she have no excuse! I obviously haven’t opened or used any of these products (however I’ve used Nivea products for years, especially their Micellar Water and Moisturisers) however, if she likes this I might have to go and get myself one!
I really do like to celebrate every occasion and I want to make this weekend special for everyone. I want to make sure the amazing women in my life know that I appreciate them and I can’t wait to spend some quality time with my family. Hopefully, the sun stays out for it!
What are you doing to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend? Have you tried any of these products from Nivea before?
